Hello world!

Hello all! As my first blog post, I wanted to share my vision and purpose for the website and for South Valley Family Wellness.

I decided to launch into private practice in the spring of 2019, in part because I wanted to create something that would outlast me, leave something behind that continues to be positive long after I’m gone. Being an employee for someone else’s creation is good, but it does not fulfill that vision. So… Here We Are!

South Valley Family Wellness was intentionally created to grow into a community resource, somewhere people could go when they needed resources or support for a variety of family needs. I began gathering these resources by networking with other professionals, specifically those that do not necessarily have a mental wellness focus. For example, I met the best realtor you’ll ever need that can help you educate yourself about the market, sell/buy a home, or even connect you with trusted people for loans/inspections/title insurance/etc (home ownership is on many people’s list for security). I also connected with a great financial coach to help you learn strategies for managing money (how often to money problems lead to conflict?), insurance brokers I trust (ever wonder if you are being taken care of?), a doTERRA rep & mom-&-baby chiropractor that helps families stay healthy naturally, and wholistic pet food reps to help our dogs and cats eat food from a trusted source (granted, these are my wife and daughter :), but still!).

SVFW also provides different services within the mental wellness arena. I offer short, one-time consultations to help people decide what they want to do to be more well. I offer ongoing individual and family therapy, specializing with teenagers and parents, and with young adults. I am developing a coaching branch for SVFW, for those who are needing an approach more geared toward high achieving and maximizing on the skills already developed. I speak in the community on a variety of topics that benefit the groups I am asked to address, such as mental health topics, workplace issues, and success principles. As time goes on and needs are determined, more services will be added.

When the demand grows beyond what I can provide alone (which is already beginning to show), I will recruit other like-minded people who are committed to the wellness of the south valley area. They will be people from various disciplines, fulfilling the ongoing vision of SVFW to provide what the community needs (e.g., play therapist, massage therapist, medication management, nutritionist, energy healing, etc). The larger vision for South Valley Family Wellness is to be Here For Your Family Needs. I understand this is a large undertaking, and one that will likely be ongoing and never-ending. But this is my mission.

I welcome you to this journey. I will work to create new content for the Blog, though right now this is not priority #1 and I am not the world’s most proliferate writer, so I cannot promise when or how often. Until the next entry, keep developing healthy habits toward wellness, and if I can support that effort, please let me know!
